AyDea is a cafe nestled in San Francisco’s Outer Richmond neighborhood, bringing a distinctive twist with its focus on Tatar cuisine and a carefully curated coffee and moktail menu. It’s the kind of spot that invites you to slow down, whether you’re here for a morning coffee or a relaxed afternoon bite that’s unlike anything else nearby.

The space itself feels open and welcoming, with an understated warmth that matches the unhurried pace of the service. This isn’t a grab-and-go kind of place—expect to take your time and enjoy the freshly prepared food, which reflects homemade, authentic flavors rather than fast food convenience. The owners’ connection to the cuisine shows in how they engage with guests, often sharing stories or recommendations when time allows, adding a layer of personal touch that’s rare in larger cafes.

For those who appreciate quality coffee, AyDea offers a variety of options from Americano and cappuccino to more adventurous choices like butter coffee or spiced drip coffee. The cold brews and creamy americanos stand out for anyone looking to linger with a thoughtfully made cup. The moktail selection also adds an intriguing dimension for afternoon or early evening visits, providing something refreshing beyond the usual cafe lineup.

Locals and visitors tend to use AyDea as a place to sit and savor rather than rush. It works well for solo visits when you want to read or work quietly, but also for small groups eager to explore Tatar culinary traditions. The menu includes hearty mains like cutlets and various dumplings, which pair well with their exceptional tea selection. The tea service, noted for its variety and quality, complements the food and adds to the sense that this cafe is a space for genuine, thoughtful enjoyment of less familiar flavors.

The best times to stop by are quieter weekday afternoons or early evenings when the mood is relaxed and the staff can share their knowledge. Weekends can get busier, but still maintain an unpretentious vibe that fits the mellow neighborhood. If you’re curious about trying Tatar food or looking for a cafe with a cool blend of cultural authenticity and solid coffee craftsmanship, AyDea provides a distinct, down-to-earth experience.

Honestly great. The owners always treat you with respect and chat if time allows. The food is as authentic and "homemade" feel as possible. I think they're running on reduced hours so be aware of that. But apart from that, great location, great atmosphere! Be aware that this is not a fast food place, so either order takeout or relax for proper food to come out because things are not reheated and are made from scratch at all times!

The only place in the US to savor authentic Tatar cuisine and more. I like that the owners care about the quality of the products they are using for cooking. The selection of tea is also amazing, like no other place I’ve been in the US.

I stopped in because I was curious about Tatar food and had a lovely informative chat about the cuisine with the friendly owner. Based on his recommendation I tried a takeout order of the qistibi potato pancake with halal beef. At home we all enjoyed this tasty comforting stuffed pancake with the light cream cheese topping it came with in a separate container. I also enjoyed the herby salad greens with delicious homemade dressing. I’d come back to try more dishes in the soothingly decorated clean inviting restaurant.

Nice ambience, space feels very open and cozy. I’ve never had Tatar cuisine before but everything we ate was absolutely delicious - very flavorful, filling and comforting. Staff was friendly and helped us choose what to order! Would recommend

Best food we ate in SF! And the best service! We had the borscht, pelmeni, sea buckthorn tea and this apple cheese pie that I can't remember the name of. Everything was delicious! The decor is simple and warm. We'll go back again before we leave.

This place is such a gem! Real food, no seed oils, lovely family owned spot, incredibly delicious and fresh food. I had the borscht and added pelmeni, then tried their peremyach which is kind of like a fried dumpling with beef inside. They make their own hot sauce which was unreal, the owner is a husband and wife from Mexico City and Tartastan so he made something that resembles a salsa with a lovely bite. I ended with a cup of sea buckthorn tea which I hadn’t heard of but they apparently import it, they walk you through everything which I really appreciated. Don’t think twice! Highly recommend coming

It’s the only Tatar restaurant in the entire United States, offering truly delicious and authentic Tatar food. Every dish — from chak-chak to echpochmak — is made with love and care, just like at home. The atmosphere is incredibly warm and welcoming — this is a place where you can truly feel at home. Huge thanks to the owners and chefs for preserving Tatar culture and sharing it with America!
